CareZone Alternative

Moving on from CareZone?
Eva is here.

Walmart acquired CareZone's technology platform in 2020 (Walmart, 2020), and Walmart's help centre says CareZone accounts that were not migrated to its Wellness app were deactivated after January 31, 2023 (Walmart Help Centre, 2023). If your family still has CareZone installed, do not rely on it. Cureva is one replacement for families who want a maintained app.

What happened to CareZone?

CareZone launched in 2012 as one of the first mobile apps to help families manage medications, health records, and caregiver coordination. At its peak, it was used by families, including adult children managing the health of an elderly parent remotely. It was imperfect but useful.

In June 2020, Walmart acquired CareZone's technology platform, patents and key intellectual property, according to Walmart, 2020.

If you still have CareZone installed, the safest move is to re-enter your medications in an app that is actively maintained.

If you've been using CareZone to track a parent's medications, this matters. A reminder app that no longer works is more than inconvenient. For someone managing multiple prescriptions, a missed dose can matter.

Why CareZone is no longer safe to rely on

Walmart's help centre states that its Wellness app was retired on January 31, 2023, and that CareZone accounts not migrated to it were deactivated and their data removed (Walmart Help Centre, 2023). If anyone in your family still has CareZone installed, do not rely on it. A replacement is not optional.

The question isn't whether to leave CareZone. It's what to move to. And the answer needs to be something actively built, actively maintained, and designed for the exact problem CareZone was trying to solve: helping families manage medications for an elderly loved one from a distance.

What Cureva adds

CareZone was a shared record. Cureva adds a daily check-in.

Eva: Personal Health Companion

Eva sends your loved one a daily check-in by first name, asks how they are feeling and remembers what they tell her. If they answer that they are not feeling good and choose to notify family, the family is told. We found no equivalent in CareZone's descriptions.

Real Family Alerts

When a dose stays unconfirmed after a short grace period, linked family caregivers get a push notification. Cureva scans for missed doses every 30 minutes, so the alert can arrive within about 45 minutes.

Doctor Reports

Cureva builds a doctor-ready PDF for 7 days up to 6 months, with what was taken and missed, vitals, symptoms and mood check-ins. Email it to a saved doctor or share a secure link. Caregivers can also get a weekly report.

Active Development

Cureva is actively developed, with iOS and Android builds shipping through 2026. You can report problems to a team that reads them.
